Festa Coloniale Italiana 2015 - Featuring PASQUALE ESPOSITO

PASQUALE ESPOSITOWhat a wonderful Festa!

The annual Festa Coloniale Italiana sponsored by the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club Foundation took place on Saturday, August 15. The weather was warm and beautiful and thousands were in attendance throughout the day. There was a large crowd when the featured vocalist, Pasquale Esposito performed in the afternoon. He not only performed from the stage but entertained with some songs walking through the crowd. Entertainment also included acts from members Tony Gemignani, Bill Palmini, Steve Albini and Rene Sevieri. Other acts included Pier Luigi Salami and the Ricco Dancers featuring Toni Bava.

The Queen and her Court from the Columbus Day Celebration strolled through the Festa during the day. We had two San Francisco dignitaries as guess speakers this year. Mayor Ed Lee spoke and described his recent trip to Italy. In addition, San Francisco District 3 Supervisor Julie Christensen, who represents North Beach, gave a great speech about keeping North Beach a beautiful place to visit, work and live. There were an array of returning vendors and some new ones selling their products. The variety of Italian food was a hit with all that partaked.

We want to thank the primary sponsors of the Festa: Bank of America - Commercial Banking Division, Italian Community Services Agency, Lagunitas Brewing, Recology, Campari, Southern Wine & Spirits and Enterprise Car Share. Special thanks goes to all the Festa volunteers and to committee Chairman Paul Alioto.

The event takes place on Stockton Street, outside the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club’s Facilities and across from Washington Square Park. The closure of Stockton Street (between Union Street and Filbert Street) for this event will provide a geographic location that is both at the center of the North Beach business district and the heart of San Francisco’s Italian-American community. Activities promote Family attendance with a focus on Italian Culture and heritage past and present.

Festa 2015The Festa Coloniale Italiana is a free, family event that showcases the San Francisco Italian Athletic Clubs Facilities, heritage, members and community resources.
